Richard "Rich"
Eming
January 12, 1949 – September 9, 2024
Richard "Rich" Eming, age 75, of Holland, MI passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024, in his sleep. Born on January 12, 1949, in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of the late Richard C. and Betty Jane (Other) Eming. Rich grew up in South Bend, IN. His teen years were spent in St. Louis helping his cousins on Tina and Al's farm. Rich received his bachelor's degree from Indiana University in Bloomington. He married Andrea Cook and they resided in Holland in his A-frame. While in Saugatuck, Rich operated the Art Glass Alcove store. He enjoyed being with his may friends in town and sailing on their sailboats. He also enjoyed the years he spent hiking, camping, sailing, traveling and really, any healthy activity. Rich was quite the handsome devil and attended many lively occasions. After Andy and Rich parted ways, Rich opened Possessions in Douglas. The business thrived, and he enjoyed the many friends that came into the store. Ida Red's was Rich's favorite café, and he was a loyal customer. He thrived in the outdoors and was always on the move!
Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Rebecca (Stephen) Cordes; and many nieces and nephews. Rich was a cherished uncle to Michael Cordes, as they spent some summers together. Rebecca always looked up to her brother, as he had a big heart, and she cherished the time he spent with her at her home. Also, Andrea will always cherish the time Rich spent at her house and the long talks they shared.
Rich was preceded in death by his father, Richard; his sister, Vicky in 2005; his mother, Betty in 2017; his niece, Carrie in 2019; and his sister, Judy in 2021.
Rich came from a very loving family, and he cherished each, and everyone. Rich was capable of many antics, but was always a gentleman, enjoying himself on multiple occasions. He could be on his sailboat, climbing Mt. Baldy, or jogging around Saugatuck. He will be missed, and there is a special phrase that he would often tell us which was, "Don't worry about me, I'm fine!"
A memorial service is being planned and will be scheduled at a later date at Divine Mercy Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805. Condolences can be left at www.divinemercyfuneralhome.com for the family.
