Obituary

Richard Eric Jordan made his grand entrance into the world on September 1, 1966, in Fort Wayne, IN. Son of Gertha Mae and Hubert Jordan. He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. Both of his parents preceded him in death, and they welcomed him with open arms when he was called home on February 14, 2025.

As a child, Richard attended Ward and St. Paul Elementary schools followed by Elmhurst High School. During his time at Elmhurst, Richard was a standout triathlete, excelling in football, basketball, and track. He proudly graduated and pursued higher education with aspirations of becoming an engineer, a testament to his brilliance.

Richard dedicated most of his adult life to the construction industry. Outside of work, he had a deep passion for old school cars. Anyone who knew him will surely remember his green Cutlass Supreme, beating down the block. If you ever rode with him, you would also know his love for music. Richard enjoyed drawing and was an avid collector of sports trading cards, box cars, and sports memorabilia, and his loyalty to the Cleveland Browns was unmatched!

Richard's infectious personality drew people to him, and he brought laughter and charisma to any room he was in. He wasn't short on advice and didn't mind telling you like it was. Despite his tough exterior, he had a big heart. Spending time with Richard meant hearing countless stories about the good old days and having late-night conversations filled with hours of reminiscing.

Richard took immense pride in his last name, seeing it as a symbol of his strength, leadership, and resilience. He instilled this sense of heritage in his children, ensuring they always remembered who they were and where they came from.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Gertha Mae and Hubert Jordan and brother, Herbert Freeman.

He is survived by his children, Ciera Banks, Ri'Chard Jordan (Chanz), Cyrielle Jordan, and Austin Perez; his bonus children, Karlene Martin and Kandance Martin; his brothers, Michael Jordan, David (Toni) Jordan, Tyrone Freeman, Marvin (Tracy) Freeman, and Tony Brower; his sisters, Dorothy Freeman, Patricia Freeman, Margaret (Courtney) Logan, Betheina Freeman (NaNa), and Krista Freeman; his grandchildren, Jayla Banks, Austin Perez, Jr., Vincent Banks, and Jacarree Burton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Richard's memory will be kept and cherished by those who knew and loved him.
