Robert P.
Curtis
Sep 2, 1960 — May 22, 2026
Robert Paul Curtis passed away peacefully in his bed early on May 22, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born September 2, 1960, in Springfield, PA to Doug and Jean Curtis, he was the youngest of four children. As a young child, the family lived in several places including Schenectady, NY, Sherborn, MA before settling down in Bluffton, IN in 1968. A decade later Rob graduated from Norwell High School where he excelled on the golf and tennis teams. A few years later he graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington and began working for the National Association of Security Dealers in New York City. A few years later found him working at Merrill Lynch in Plainsboro, NJ where he met the love of his life Ellen Madden. They began 37 wonderful years of marriage on September 10, 1988.
In early 1988, Rob moved back to Indiana, accepting his father’s offer of working alongside him at Flexible Personnel, the business Doug founded only a few years earlier. After their wedding, Ellen would join him in Fort Wayne. Together, the father and son would found several businesses over the next 30 years, and be honored by Inc. Magazine with their Inc. 500 award three times. As a local businessman, Rob was a member of Fort Wayne Business Forum.
In 1991, Rob became a father for the first time with his son, Michael (Fort Wayne). The next several years added to the family with son, Andy (Laramie, WY) and Catherine (Sarver, PA). He also leaves behind a son-in-law, Spencer Kahn.
Along with his wife and children, Rob leaves behind his mother, Jean and his three sisters: Rebecca Baclawski, Linda Phillipp, and Colleen Kalsbeek and their husbands as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded into the afterlife by his father, Doug.
Rob loved to hunt, and every fall would be out at his cabin in Huntington hoping to bag himself a nice-sized buck. In recent years, Rob and his wife became snowbirds, purchasing a condo in Ajijic, Mexico, where they hoped to spend the winters of their golden years together.
