Robert Gregory Hunter, age 74, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on Tuesday, March 10th, 2026.

Greg was a graduate from New Haven High School and Purdue University. He retired from Parkview Health in 2014. 

Greg was an avid photographer and has taken some amazing pictures over the years. Some of the pictures he was most proud of are from the many concerts he attended when he was younger. I can hear him telling us the stories behind each picture; Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Robert Cray, The Rolling Stones, Willie Nelson, Yes, Sting, Elton John, ELO, George Harrison, REO Speedwagon, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin and so many more. He would also tell you that he paid for all that fun with bad hearing in the later years. 

He was an avid Cubs fan and in recent years he became a Caitlin Clark fan and enjoyed watching her play for Iowa and the Indiana Fever. 

Greg loved to work out in his yard and take care of his beautiful rose bushes. He was also very handy and never hesitated to offer help to anyone that needed it. If you asked Greg personally, he would tell you his greatest joy in life was his three grandchildren. I’ve never seen him happier in life than when he would spend time with them. 

Most of all, Greg was a loving and caring husband to my mom for 40 years and the best stepfather a girl could ask for. As I grew older, I gained such an appreciation and respect for how present he was in our lives. I didn’t consider him my stepdad, I considered him my Dad and will miss him immensely.

Greg was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Martin Hunter (2020). His parents, Donald James (2015) and Geraldine Hunter (2010) and Sister, Nancy Klerner (2005). His Aunt Jane Hodgson (Dan) and Uncle Edward Hunter. 

He is survived by his daughters; Tara Shepherd and Tracy (Joe) Heathman, Grandkids; Tyler Taylor, Mariah Taylor and Trevor Heathman. His Sisters Sally(Mark)Summers and Laura Sanderson. Three nephews; David(Shannon)Summers Daniel(Christina)Summers and Mike Summers and Four Nieces; Suzanne Summers, Sarah(Dan) Selzer, Marcy(Andy)Sojak, and Sherry Summers. 

In keeping with Greg’s wishes, services will be limited to prayers at a gravesite burial for family members and close friends held at the Catholic Cemetery, 3500 Lake Ave. Fort Wayne, IN. on Saturday, March 28th at 1pm. Memorials can be sent directly to the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission or the Charis House.
