Robert F.
Trahin
December 1, 1947 – November 3, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) F. Trahin, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world on November 3, 2025, at the age of 77. Bob passed away after his heart gave out from always caring for and loving others. Born on December 1, 1947, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Paul J. and Shirley M. (Strack) Trahin, Bob was raised on the family farm in Arcola and attended St. Patrick's Arcola Catholic grade school. Bob went to high school in Arcola and was always proud to be an Arcola Ace. While in high school, Bob excelled in athletics and was a member of the FFA. Robert lived a life dedicated to his family and community, he proudly served as a volunteer in the Arcola Fire Department.
Robert was a proud member of the Miami Indian Nation and an esteemed member of the Fort Wayne/Arcola/Huntertown communities. Bob went to Saint Francis college in Fort Wayne and was a proud Troubadour. While at Saint Francis, Bob earned a bachelor's degree in business, excelled in athletics and met his wife Helen whom he was married to for 52 years. After college, Bob was invited to attend spring training with the Chicago Cubs but was drafted and served in the Indiana National Guard. Then, he began his career at International Harvester. When Harvester left town, Bob began working many jobs to support his family. At one time Bob was a chicken farmer running T & T eggs (selling and delivering eggs on the "Egg Route"), school bus driver, and tire builder at BF Goodrich. After driving school bus for over 30 years (best known as 10 Bob) and never missing the chance to give a friendly wave, Bob retired. After retiring, Bob and his wife worked thanklessly to help care for his aging mother-in law Alvina and special needs brother-in law George until their passing. Bob's several hobbies included, coaching his children in youth sports, playing sports, restoring his 1952 Case tractor (which he used to give hayrides), gardening, baking, cooking for the family, walking around Sam's club, playing Euchre, making friends wherever he went, repairing things for friends and family, cheering on his beloved Chicago Cubs & Chicago Bears & Indiana Hoosiers, Throw Down Thursdays and he NEVER missed a chance to watch his children or grandchildren in their activities.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Helen E. (Meyer) Trahin, and their children: Trebor Trahin, Star Smith (Troy Smith), Paul Trahin, Mark Trahin, and Jake Trahin (Emily Trahin), and four grandchildren McKenna Smith, Cooper Smith, Maggie Smith and Georgia Trahin. He is also survived by four brothers Roger Trahin, Dale "Joe" Trahin, Gary "Pete" Trahin, Glen "Sam" Trahin. He is preceded in death by his parents Paul & Shirley Trahin and two brothers Dennis "Gus" Trahin and Jeff Trahin.
