June 4, 1942 – October 25, 2024
Ronald T. Umphrey Sr., 82, of New Haven, died Friday October 25, 2024 at Stillwater Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Ron was born in Fort Wayne on June 4, 1942, the son of (the late) Thomas S. and Alice H. (Fabian) Umphrey. On July 27, 1970, Ron married Angela (Prudhomme) Umphrey; she preceded him in death on December 3, 1993. Ron was also preceded by 2 sisters, Mary Ann Keener and Linda Musselman, and a brother-in-law, Larry Niemeyer. He is survived by his children, Michelle Rentfrow, Wendy Jo (Randy) Wilson, Gordon Umphrey, Ronald T. Umphrey, Jr. and Renee (Jack) Lemon, all of Fort Wayne; brother, Greg (Cheri) Umphrey and sister, Debbie Niemeyer, both of New Haven; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Ron was a beer distributor, retiring in 2006 from Allen Products after 25 years with the company. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and he enjoyed fishing, listening to old country music standards, cheering on the Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Cubs and Bears, attending the kid's sporting events, and caring for "Sheba", his pet Chow. Ron enjoyed eating out and spending time with his family & friends. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, who will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services 7:00pm Monday November 4, 2024 at Divine Mercy Lake Avenue Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. with visitation on Monday from 5-7pm. Private Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
