I have a lot of great memories of my dad (Jim Buckley) taking us to visit Uncle Sam and his family. In more recent years, I’ve found that Sam and I shared several interests including wood carving, model building, and gardening. Uncle Sam also shared a love of singing and a good sense of humor with several others in our family. I know he was very active in his church, and must have had a positive impact on many people. He was a good role model, and his positive influence and personality will live in my memory for many years to come.

Big day of loss here on Earth, but a great WIN for HEAVEN, because they surely scored one of the best men I ever had the pleasure of knowing. During my short six or seven years of spending time with Sam, I witnessed a loving, patient, kind hearted, dedicated, gentleman. Sam would give of himself at any time for anyone, without complaint. TRUE INSPIRATION!! God Bless the family during this most difficult time, hold tight to the precious memories. Lori Kline (Dtr. of Bea Terry)

Eleanor & I are so sorry to hear of Sam's passing. I grew up on Pontiac St about 2 blocks from Sam's home on Gay St. We had adjoining Journal Gazette paper routes & would gab incessantly each morning while folding papers. Later, Sam & I worked at Rogers Market where he met true love, Barbara (Patterson). We remember their wedding, their first house, and their first baby, Danny. After we moved to New England, we eventually lost touch, except for the occasional card. Years later, after Barb passed away, we were back in Ft Wayne and Sam surprised us by coming to our 50th anniversary celebration. We were able to "catch up" and reminisce about the good old days. We will fondly remember Sam and cherish the good times we shared.
