Obituary

Sheila Elizabeth Read Kronberg, 68, died September 9th, 2025, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born September 1st, 1957, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of Kenneth Read and Leila Read (née Roden). She was a devoted and fiercely loving daughter, mother, and grandmother.

As a strong supporter of charity and volunteer work, she was involved with volunteering at the Pabst Mansion in Milwaukee (where she met her future husband Peter Kronberg), as well as raising money and material donations for her children's schools. A passion of Sheila's was landscaping. She made her home a private paradise of trees, bushes, and flowers. If there was room for a plant to thrive, she would fill it. Sheila and her granddaughter, Jasper, would go out in the summers to pick fresh peaches off the tree in her backyard. The only thing second to her aesthetic talent for landscaping was the interior design of her home. Sheila was also a lover of the arts. She was thrilled when her son, John, joined the Purdue Varsity Glee Club and made sure to attend all their performances. A highlight of this time for her was when John called her on stage at a performance to give her the ceremonial lavalier. This extended to the plays and operatic performances that her youngest daughter, Alexandria, participated in. Sheila adored listening to Lexi sing, and they would often sing together, whether it was during car rides or during family visits. She was so proud when Lexi graduated in the arts. Sheila also supported and loved attending the showcases and competitions that her middle child, Victoria, performed for ballroom dance. She was exceedingly proud when Tori won many first-place medals in her competitions. Sheila wanted and helped all three of her children to grow and succeed in everything they dreamed of achieving.

An extremely gregarious person, Sheila could strike up a conversation with anyone she met. This led her to make a network of connections that touched many lives. Her kindness and maternal nature also led to many of her children's friends to calling her "mom."

Sheila is survived by her husband, Peter Kronberg; her three children John Kronberg (Jessica Kronberg), Victoria Hesselschwerdt (Thomas Hesselschwerdt), and Alexandria Davis (Shan Davis); grandchildren Oliver Kronberg, Henry Kronberg, and Jasper Davis; and countless friends and extended family. We would like to express our appreciation to the Lutheran Hospital emergency nurses and surgeons, as well as the ICU nurses and doctors. With their care, we were able to keep our wife and mother until after her 68th birthday. Celebrating her birthday with her will be a memory we will all cherish for the rest of our lives.
