Obituary

Stephan C. Walker, 77, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and formerly of New Haven, Indiana, died Wednesday in Milwaukee. He was born in Fort Wayne on April 22, 1949, the son of the late Charles L. and Hariette (Monnot) Walker. He graduated from New Haven High School with the Class of ’67 and served his country with honor in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era, then served in the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard, retiring in 2009 from the 122nd Fighter Wing (Air National Guard) , after a total of 30 years of military service. He married the love of his life, Karen (Hirschbiel) Walker on July 11, 1970 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, and she survives after 55 years of marriage, along with their children, Stephanie (Geoff) Braun of New Haven, Stephan C. (Tiffany) Walker II of Huntington, Kaleb (Troy) Walker of Delaware OH, and Sam (Ryan) Walker of Milwaukee WI; grandchildren, Taylor (Matt Schultheis) Braun, Nevada Walker, Stephan C. (Sophia Sistevaris) Walker III and Dylan Walker, all of Fort Wayne, Kirsten(Kade Keele) Braun of New Haven and Thaddeus Berry of Huntington; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Miles and Aurora, and his brother, Michael (Fran) Walker of Fort Wayne. In addition to his parents, Stephan was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas & Lynn Walker, and his sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline and Gerald Bowling.

Stephan was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Haven; he retired in 2018 from Fort Wayne Auto Truck. He loved his morning games of Gin Rummy with Karen and also enjoyed assembling and detailing his model cars. Stephan loved serving in the military and had a deep love for his country, but his greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his family & friends.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am Friday June 19, 2026 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2120 S. Harrison St., with visitation in the church from 10-11am. Visitation is also on Thursday from 1-7pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. Private burial in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, IN.
