Stephen A. Hensler, 78, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Born in Fort Wayne, on August 9, 1946, he was the cherished son of the late Charles and Irene Hensler. Steve was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon, and his grandson, Matthew. He is survived by his loving children: sons Brian (Jenny) and Kevin (Amy), and daughters Sara and Susan. He was a proud grandfather to 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Steve graduated from Central Catholic High School and went on to serve in the military, demonstrating his dedication and patriotism. He was a lifelong Purdue fan. An avid golfer, he excelled at the sport and treasured the times he spent golfing with his brothers, Tom and Jack. He found immense joy at the lake, where he loved boating and spending time on the water. These moments at the lake were some of his happiest, shared with family and friends.

Steve found great joy in the company of his children and grandchildren and cherished his breakfast outings with friends. He was known for his kindness, humor, and generosity. His family adored him, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Saint Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 1502 E Wallen Road, Fort Wayne with calling from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Calling will also be Monday, November 18, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne with the recitation of the Most Holy Rosary begining at 3:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Hope Lodge, a haven for cancer patients and their families, and Matthew 25.
