Stephen James Monnier, 54, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born on April 5, 1972, he was the son of Jim and Lucy (Nieb) Monnier, who survive. Stephen graduated from Bishop Luers High School, class of 1990. He studied Dietary Management at Ivy Tech Community College. Stephen began his career as the Dietary Manager at Golden Years and other nursing homes. Creating menus, meals, feasts, and engaging in lasting relationships with the people he served gave him tremendous satisfaction. Most recently Stephen served as the food and beverage manager at Brookwood Golf Club.

Stephen loved the music of the ‘80s and ‘90s and followed his favorite bands including Pearl Jam. Playing cards with his long-time friends, attending concerts, and following the games of the L.A. Dodgers, the San Francisco 49ers, and Manchester City Football was a pleasure. These pursuits were best shared with family and friends! Stephen took great pleasure in the lives and pursuits of his three children. He fully loved being a parent to Nate, Sam, and Hannah, sharing so many laughs while being proud of each new interest and accomplishment. Stephen lived unapologetically himself and lived large and loud.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sarah Sims; parents, Jim and Lucy Monnier; children, Hannah (Evan) Gallagher, Samuel Monnier, and Nathan Monnier; sisters, Jenny (Mark) Andorfer, Amy Ross, and Wendy (Scott) Miller; mother of his children, Carrie Monnier; and many treasured nieces, nephews and cousins. Stephen was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Martha Monnier and Joseph and Katherina Nieb.

A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 with visitation for family and friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Fond memories and condolences can be left at www.divinemercyfuneralhome.com for the family.
