Steven A.
Cameron
Oct 25, 1954 — Oct 10, 2026
Angola, Indiana
Steven Arnold Cameron passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 10, after a long but courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.
Steve was the first child born to Amos and Carol Cameron on October 25, 1954, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He attended St. Jude Catholic School and graduated from Bishop Dwenger in 1973. After graduation, he attended IPFW and began his career at Lincoln Bank, where he worked in operations, security, and audit. He later retired from American Landmaster as Chief Information Officer.
Hockey was a lifelong passion. He played and coached for most of his life. At age 70, Steve and his team, Ironworkers, won USA Hockey’s 70 plus Adult National Championship. The friendships he built on the ice, in locker rooms, and on long road trips were among the great joys of his life.
An avid golfer, Steve loved perfecting his game, and grooming to perfection any sand trap he happened to stumble in. Softball and pickleball filled out his calendar, and each brought its own circle of friends, teammates, and rivals who became family. He loved the lake and loved sharing it with anyone who would come along.
His favorite role of all was being “Papa.” He never missed a chance to cruise the lake with his grandchildren and pass along a lifetime of wisdom to his littles.
Steve is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen; his son, Matt (Sarah) of Naperville, Illinois; his daughter, Courtney (Nick) Murray of Fishers, Indiana; and his beloved grandchildren, Merryn and Cameron Murray and Maeve and Emery Cameron. He is also survived by his brother, Michael (Pat), and his sister, Cheryl (Mike) Brownfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Carol.
Memorials may be made to the Fort Wayne Amateur Hockey Association, Parkview Hospice, and the YMCA of Steuben County.
