Theresa Ellen Gannon, age 81, of Fort Wayne, passed away on September 27, 2025, surrounded by family.
She was born in Muncie, Indiana on February 9, 1944 to the late Joseph and June (Smith) Cleary. She graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1962.
Theresa married the love of her life, Paul J. Gannon, on April 16, 1966 and spent more than 59 years growing their life and family until Paul's passing on June 29, 2025. They are now together again.
Theresa was a devoted homemaker, nurturing her family and home with love and care. Family and friends were always the most important part of her life and she treasured every moment spent with them. She also provided in-home child care for many years, offering love and support to countless children beyond her own family.
Along with Paul, she served those in need by delivering Homebound Meals for more than 10 years.
Theresa was an active member of Saint Therese Catholic Church, where she was involved in choir, funeral dinners, School Board, Rosary Sodality and CRHP prayer group.
She is survived by her children, John (Denise) Gannon, William (Sara) Gannon, Thomas (Rebecca) Gannon, Kathleen (Kevin Wise) Gannon, Julie (Shane) Psurny, Maureen (Antoine) von Dobenik, Joseph (Lauren Fahl) Gannon, Brian (Alyia) Gannon; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers James (Nora) Cleary and John (Esther) Cleary.
Also preceding her in death was a grandson, Christian Joseph von Dobenik.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Saint Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 4:00pm until 7:00pm on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 3:30pm.
Memorials may be directed to Saint Therese Catholic Church.
