Theresa A.
Huntine
January 17, 1936 – January 2, 2026
Our beloved mother, Theresa A. Huntine, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, just shy of her 90th birthday. Born on January 17, 1936, in Fort Wayne, IN, Theresa dedicated her life to service in the church community. She began as a devoted secretary at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Parish and later became the cook for the priests and sometimes the Bishop, a role she embraced with joy and skill.
Theresa was known for her exceptional cooking and generous spirit in the kitchen. Her famous spaghetti sauce and creme de menthe cake for St. Patrick's Day were beloved favorites. She never planned ahead—she would visit the grocery store, see what inspired her, and create delicious meals that delighted everyone at her table.
Theresa had a lifelong love of music. She sang in the Cathedral Choir and loved playing the piano, especially with her sister. For many years, they would play together whenever they had the chance, creating beautiful memories through their shared gift. Throughout her life, she cherished her beloved pets, who brought her endless joy and companionship.
For 30 years, Theresa shared her home and life with her dear friends Sally Soules and Teresa Wedler, affectionately known as "The Golden Girls." Their friendship was a testament to the power of companionship and love. Sally preceded Theresa in death earlier in 2025.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Rhonda Dove (Larry); her sons, James Huntine (Margaret) and Michael Huntine (Jill); her grandchildren, Andrew (Jackie), Anna (KJ), Nicholas, and Joseph; her granddaughter-in-law, Morgan Huntine; her great-grandchildren, Emersyn, Brielle, and Stetson; her sister, Catherine Smith; and her surviving Golden Girl, Teresa Wedler.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mary Vastano; her beloved grandson, Michael Huntine; and her dear friend, Sally Soules.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, followed by Mass at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Catholic Cemetery, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness or the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Condolences can be left at www.divinemercyfuneralhome.com .
