Theresa Ann Oberley (Christie), 77, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024. Born January 21, 1947, Theresa was the daughter of the late Erwin Christe and Jeanne Christie (LaRue.)

She is survived by her daughter, Christie (Pete) Contadeluci, and her four grandchildren, Jacob, Sophia, Olivia, and Gia Contadeluci. Theresa is also survived by her sister  Rosemary (Scott) Baldwin, brothers Mike (Jackie) Christie, Erwin (Tina)Christie, and many nieces and nephews.

Theresa's love of learning started when she graduated from Loretto Catholic Central High School, Sault Ste. Marie, MI, in 1964. She received her bachelor's degree from Northern Michigan University in 1968 and her master's degree from St. Francis University in 1974.  Theresa's career path led her to administration, and she received her Administration License from Ball State University in 1990.

Theresa started her teaching career as a Special Education teacher in 1968 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI.  In 1970, she moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to begin her journey as a Special Education teacher in Fort Wayne Community Schools. Until 1991, she taught in several schools, touching the lives of children.   She was appointed Director of Special Education for Fort Wayne Community Schools in 1991, where she dedicated  22 years of service,  retiring in 2012.  Theresa supported, loved, and guided many people, schools, children, and families during these years.

Theresa's pride and joy were her grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to be with them, whether at sporting events, birthday parties, holiday traditions,  shopping trips, or weekends at Big Long Lake. She could be called upon at a moment's notice and was always there for her family.

Many memories were created when she vacationed with family and friends and spent time at her cottage on Big Long Lake. She always took advantage of an opportunity to take a Pontoon ride around the lake.

Theresa frequently prayed and wrote in her prayer book.  One of the recent quotes found read:

"I love you all so much. My story may be over, but it has been such a good one. I got to do so much in my life. So many beautiful people to share it with!"

Memorial's may be made in memory of Theresa to Stillwater Hospice or AWS Foundation.

Mass will be 11am Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Road, with calling 1 hour prior to mass. Calling also 4 till 7 pm Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home 3500 Lake Ave. with the Rosary at 3:30 pm
