Thomas D. "Denny" Beuchel, 86, of Fort Wayne, died at Parkview Randallia Hospital, surrounded by his family, on Monday September 25, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born January 11, 1937 in Fort Wayne, to Henry and Mildred (Beerman) Beuchel. He was the youngest of three children. Denny graduated from Central Catholic High School and attended Indiana Tech, graduating as a mechanical engineer. After graduation, he served his country honorably for 6 years in the Indiana National Guard as a combat engineer. He married the love of his life, Rose, in 1966 and together they raised three children. He worked in the local construction industry as an engineer specializing in HVAC, Plumbing, and Process Piping for over 60 years. He loved his work and was semi-retired, working two days per week until the age of 85. Denny freely gave his time and talent whenever he was asked. He served on the Building and Grounds Committee at St. Jude Catholic Church for over 40 years, and he volunteered for many other organizations including Easterseals Arc of Northern Indiana and the St. Andrew's Soup Kitchen. Denny was a proud and committed member of Alcoholics Anonymous, having just recently earned his 48th anniversary token. He was a willing and cheerful sponsor to many others in the program and regularly attended meetings until his death, serving as a role model to many. Denny is survived by Rose, his wife of 57 years; his three children, Kurt (Cynthia), Eric (Nikki) and Kristy (Rick) Ponder; his grandchildren, Katharine, Tyler, Gregory, Anna and Ella, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
