Thomas "Thom" Hathaway, age 72, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. Born on April 15, 1952, he was the son of the late Robert and Maryann (Epple) Hathaway. He was a graduate of Elmhurst High School, Class of 1970, and attained a master's degree from Indiana University. Thom answered his country's call and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for four years. He worked as a Juvenile Probation Officer and Assistant Superintendent at Wood Youth Center for Allen Superior Court. He then served as Jail Commander for Allen County. In later years, he served as an educator at several local colleges and also as a security dispatcher for Parkview Hospitals until his retirement. Once retired, Thom enjoyed collecting, restoring, and selling German cuckoo clocks. He loved to travel, especially to destinations where he could scuba dive. He also enjoyed watching IU basketball, reading, swimming, and gardening. Thom was a family man, and the time he spent with his beloved wife and two children was very important to him. His strong faith was central to him, and he was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. Thom will be remembered as a selfless soul, much loved by family and friends alike. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ann Hathaway; children, Sydney (Jake Chapman) Hathaway and Clarke (Caitlin) Hathaway; and brothers, Robert "Bob" (Barbara) Hathaway and Michael Hathaway. Thom was preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law, Barbara (James) Ledbetter.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4245 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne (46815) with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne (46805).
