Thomas E. Hess Sr., 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, February 3, 2025 at his home in Grabill, Indiana. Tom was born June 10, 1944 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Edwin and Madonna (Ripberger) Hess and graduated from Central Catholic High School. He worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for 32 years and retired in 1999. Tom loved his family and was an avid fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He also enjoyed trains and Ford Mustangs. Tom is survived by his wife; Pattie Hess, sons; Thomas Hess Jr. and Matthew Hess, daughter; Lisa Arnold, step-daughter; Reena (Jason) McKee, step-son; Rich (Lisa) Gardner, brothers; David (Karin) Hess and Michael (Mary) Hess, sister; Rose (Ralph) Helmkamp, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister; Rita. Mass of Christian Resurection will 10:30am Monday, February 10, 2025 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 2155 Randallia Dr. with calling 1 hour prior from 9:30am to 10:30am. Calling also Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 1:00pm till 4:00pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. with The Rosary recited at 12:30pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials may be given in Tom's honor to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
