Thomas D. Nycum, 93, of Fort Wayne, died Tuesday August 18, 2026, at Sacred Heart Village in Avilla. Tom was born in Fort Wayne on January 13, 1933, the son of the late John C. and Anna (Rowan) Nycum. He graduated from Central Catholic with the Class of ’53, then served his country proudly in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Zollner Corp. after 25 years with the company.

Survivors include his son, Joe (Michelle) Nycum of Granger IN; daughters, Joanne (Bruce) Lintjer of Denver CO, Theresa (John) Hebert of Orlando FL, Julie Nycum of Fort Wayne IN and Shelly (Jeff) Haskins of Noblesville IN; 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren (with one more “on the way”).

In addition to his parents, Tom was also preceded in death by his wife, Janice Nycum; his brothers, William, Richard and John Nycum, and by Gloria Nold, the mother of his children.

He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Tom was always available to volunteer wherever needed; he enjoyed camping and playing golf, and was an ardent fan of Notre Dame Football, but his greatest joy in life was always the time he spent with his family & friends.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am Saturday September 5, 2026 in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd. with visitation from 9:30-10:30am in the church.
