Tom
Morel
September 12, 1934 – February 7, 2026
Thomas Philip Morel (Tom), passed away peacefully in his home on February 7th, surrounded by his family, and beloved wife, Mary Ann Morel, of nearly 71 years. We all are at peace knowing that he went right from his family's arms, to the arms of Jesus.
He is lovingly remembered by three daughters, Diane Geeting (Brian), Jenny Morel, Christina Foreman (Jim), and two sons, Steve Morel (Danee), and Matt Morel, as well as nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, June Morel, and his father, Eugene Morel and brother, Jerry Morel.
Not only did he serve his family, but he also served our country in the Navy. He retired from Slater Steel in 1997, after 43 years of loyal service.
Tom is described by his family as steadfast, loyal, joyful, witty, genuine, and most of all, the most perfect man they'd ever met. He was a man with a strong faith in God and lived a life of duty, honor, and integrity. His wife when asked how she would describe him and their marriage, confidently stated that "he was perfect in every way."
Tom (Poppa) leaves behind many memories that his family will cherish forever, specifically, back porch talks over a glass of vino or a cigar, finding him in his garage whistling and puttering with a project, long walks, and dancing in the kitchen, taking his bride for a spin. Alongside his wife, they shared in their greatest passion for family and invested in the lives of their five children, creating beautiful memories throughout the years. The memories that he leaves with his family and friends are abundant and everyone truly agrees that there are no words to fully describe the legacy of love that he has given us.
Tom was an avid outdoorsman and always found peace in the woods which remained a big part of his life right up until the last few months. He loved a good game of golf, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and especially adored cooking in the kitchen alongside his family.
His children take pride in knowing that their dad built his home alongside his father, at age 14, and eventually went on to raise his family in that same home. From that same door that he built in 1947, he waved hello and goodbye to each and every visitor that came and went and never let anyone go unnoticed.
Throughout his life, and up until his passing, he always professed that he never had a regret in his life and often described his life as "perfect." Any description of Tom feels like an undersell to his easy-going, loving, and silly personality and he will be deeply missed by everyone. He was a friend to all and if you knew him, you loved him.
We'll miss him dearly, but we know there will be sweet reunion in Heaven.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 with visitation on hour prior. Entombment will follow at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
