Our beloved Mom, Ursula Ruth Hatfield, passed away January 17, 2026, at the age of 94. She was born on February 27, 1931, in Breslau, Germany, to Erich & Helena (Blumel) Kirchhof. Ursula married Bernard Francis Hatfield on October 26,1953 and lived a life full of love and devotion, making her home in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Ursula was a dedicated homemaker who created a warm and welcoming environment for her beloved family. She will be deeply missed by her children: Steven, Dennis (Rita), James (Gwen), Timothy, Eric(Linda), Michelle (Robert), and Jeffrey (Milissa), as well as her 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Jeanette Hatfield, Barbara Kirchhof and Margot Kirchhof and her brother-in-law, Gary Robison. Her family was everything to her.
Ursula was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Hatfield, her son, Gerard (Jerry) Hatfield, her parents, Erich Kirchhof, Helena Kirchhof and brothers, Klaus and Peter Kirchhof.
She loved her almost daily trips to the Goodwill. She was known in the extended family for her wonderful baking skills especially cream pies. Ursula put her German homemaking-skills to good use by making delicious meals for her family and decorating her home of which she was very proud. She had a special love for dachshunds which she always had one named Heidi and German shepherds.
Special joys in her life were babysitting her grandkids, camping, and the outdoors. She was always planting flowers and working in her yard. She had a big heart for charities especially those supporting children and animals.
We invite family and friends to come together to celebrate her beautiful life and the memories we hold dear.
