Obituary

Virginia Lee Stoner was born at home in Petroleum Indiana, on April 18, 1929, to Jesse Andrew Stoner and Irene Risser Stoner.

Virginia (Ginny) graduated from Petroleum High School in 1947.  From there she moved to Fort Wayne where she graduated from the International Business College, paying her own way by working at Meyers' on Pontiac St as a soda jerk. Following graduation, she began work at the General Electric Company and held a variety of jobs for 41 years. She started in the secretarial field and then as an employee relations specialist.  After retirement, she and her husband became Methodist NOMADS and in the winter months took their motorhome across the southern part of America doing volunteer work for the United Methodist Church.  After 7 years of volunteering, they became snowbirds and enjoyed many years in Palmetto, Florida close to several family members.  Ginny was a life-long animal lover. She adored and cared for many 4-legged friends.  Family was an important part of her life and she spent many weekends at Knapp Lake with them boating, fishing and playing Bingo.  She engineered themed cookouts and Canasta marathons. Hunting morels was another family outing.  The garden she shared with her father was the envy of many and when he passed, she spent her time with her mother. During the summers in Indiana, she cared for her aunt, Helen Burnam Crowe, and in the winter her aunt Mildred Risser in Florida.  Collecting things was one of her hobbies, from coins, rocks and woodpecker holes, to antiques and old family memorabilia. Faith was her guide in life. She was active in her church at Simpson United Methodist and later Faith United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Jesse A Stoner Sr and Irene (Risser) Stoner along with her elder sister, Beverly Stoner Patrick, her brother Jesse A Stoner Jr, a beloved partner, Henry Vance, her husband Bernard Huguenard.

She is survived by her companion of 8 years, James Pose, her sister, Susan Sutton, and her nieces, nephews and many great nieces and nephews, along with one great, great niece.

The family will receive relative and friends from 4-7:00pm Friday, March 7, 2025, and again from 10-11:00am on Saturday, March 8, 2025, with a funeral service at 11:00am, all at Divine Mercy Funeral Home-Cedar Canyons, 1986 W.
