Willard L.
Shively Sr.
March 31, 1939 – August 5, 2025
Willard Shively, 86, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on March 31, 1939, to Ralph and Mona (Krider) Shively and was raised on a farm, where he developed a lifelong love of gardening, woodworking, and fixing anything mechanical.
Willard served in the U.S. Navy as a Radarman Petty Officer First Class aboard the USS Macdonough (DDG-39), a role he carried out with integrity and distinction.
On December 2, 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Gordon. Together, they shared 64 years of marriage and raised six children. Family was the center of Willard's life, and nothing meant more to him. Willard was a quiet, steady presence-respected by all who knew him. He spoke little, but when he did, it mattered. His values, love, and example will live on through his family.
Willard dedicated over 40 years of his life to Zollner Corporation in Fort Wayne, where he worked in manufacturing, helping produce high-quality pistons. He took pride in his work and valued the friendships he built during his long career.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, and their children: Diane (Brian) Thayer, Willard Jr. (Laurna) Shively, Kimberly (Brian) Igo, Cheryl (Mike) Rettig, David (Kate) Shively, and James (Sarah) Shively. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Resurrection will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025, at St. Anne Retirement Communities Chapel, 1900 Randallia Drive, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 with visitation one hour prior.
