William E. Newman, 78, of Fort Wayne, died Monday, September 9, 2024. Bill was born in Fort Wayne on November 20, 1945, the son of (the late) William D. and Ann Genevieve (Navin) Newman. He graduated from Central Catholic with the Class of '63. Bill retired from GTE/Verizon after 25 years with the company. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and enjoyed playing golf, bowling and following the Detroit Tigers.  Bill is survived by his brothers, J. Joseph (Jill) Newman and Richard "Dick" Newman, both of Fort Wayne and several nieces & nephews. Funeral Services 1:00pm Monday September 16, 2024 at Divine Mercy Lake Avenue Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. Visitation is Monday from 11:00am-1:00pm. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
