Barbara J. Streicher, 89, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021. Born February 23, 1932, in New York, NY she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Streicher. Barbara was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and attended Rosary College in River Forest IL. Unfortunately Barbara’s college education was cut short due to her father’s stroke and for the rest of his and her mother’s lives, Barbara dedicated herself to selflessly taking care of her parents. Barbara was above all else gentle in spirit and pure of heart. She truly was a champion for those less fortunate, always volunteering her time and money to help in any way she could. She was a volunteer at the St. Joseph Hospital for many years. She worked for Lincoln National Bank and later Wells Fargo for over 40 years. Barbara enjoyed traveling with several international trips to Europe. She loved playing bridge and was active in many bridge clubs. In her younger years, she was an active participant in the Rosary Sodality at St. Patrick’s parish in Fort Wayne.
Surviving are her nieces, Susan (Tom) Herr, Anne (Dan) Woenker, Sheila Wheeler, and Karen Zawodni; nephews, David (Cynthia) Streicher, and John (Celeste) Streicher; great-nephews/nieces, Jeff (Julie) Herr, Andy (Heidi) Herr, David (Holly) Streicher II, Matthew (Cassie) Streicher, Robert (Erica) Streicher, Jennifer (Bram) MacAleese, Don (Lesley) Woenker, Jamie (David) Slotsema, Ben Woenker, Joe (McKinley) Wheeler, Nick (Ann) Wheeler, Alexandra Zawodni, Samantha Zawodni, Michael Streicher, and Sabrina Streicher. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Donald and sister-in-law, Jean Streicher.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd., with calling one hour prior. Face coverings required. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Soup Kitchen. The family would like to thank St. Anne's for the years of tremendous service for Barbara.
