Bruce Scherer

Bruce A. Scherer, 72, of Fort Wayne, died Wednesday August 23, 2023, at DuPont Hospital. Bruce was born in Fort Wayne on September 10, 1950, the son of the late Eugene and Alice (Koorsen) Scherer. After high school, he joined the US Army Reserves and on May 10, 1972, Bruce married Nancy (Campbell) Scherer, who survives after 51 years of marriage. Bruce was a grocer, associated with Rogers Markets and later Kroger, retiring in 2016. He was an avid sports fan; particularly the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears and was a NASCAR fan as well. Bruce cherished the time he spent with his family and friends, whether sharing a meal, fishing, or his hunting trips to Colorado. In addition to Nancy, Bruce is survived by their daughters, Stacy Gilbert and Jennifer Scherer, both of Fort Wayne; son, Chris (Irma) Scherer of Sarasota FL, and grandchildren, Tyler Gilbert and Madison Gilbert, both of Fort Wayne, Cane Scherer and Aspen Scherer, both of Sarasota FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Greg Gilbert and his brother Timothy Scherer.
