Colleen Faith Makovic, 80, of Fort Wayne passed away Friday, August 27, 2021. Born February 3, 1941, in St. Paul, MN she was the daughter of the late Edward and Evelyn Kruse. A flight attendant for four years with Northwest Orient Airlines, Colleen split her time between Tokyo, Japan and Seattle, Washington. After marriage, she was an advocate for special needs children and was a supporter of Fort Wayne’s Turnstone Center for Children & Adults with Disabilities. Colleen was also a breast Cancer survivor of over twenty years. Known for her witty sense of humor, Colleen enjoyed the friendships she made in the Red Hat Society and recalled the trips and camaraderie fondly. Colleen’s life was anchored by her Christian faith and she was active in parish life at St. Charles Borromeo, St. Joseph’s in Roanoke IN and at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. As a volunteer with Heartland Hospice Care, she gave comfort to many. Colleen is survived by loving husband, George; children, George E. (Leslie) Makovic of Western Springs, IL; and Kathleen Makovic of Fort Wayne; granddaughters, Diane and Kelly Makovic; and sister, Jacqueline Strobel. Colleen was also preceded in death by her son, Michael (Elizabeth) Makovic; brother, Edward R. (Marilyn) Kruse and brother-in-law David (Jacqueline) Strobel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Thursday, September 2, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center RD with calling one hour prior. Visitation also Wednesday, September 1, 2021, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Hospital for Children or Turnstone.
