Dan T. Gratz

Dan T. Gratz, 72, of Fort Wayne died September 19, 2021 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, IN surrounded by loved ones. Dan was born to the late Albert and Buleah (Bledsoe) Gratz on October 6, 1948 in Fort Wayne. A member of the first graduating class of Snider High School (1967) Dan was married to Cheryl (Hooven) Gratz on April 29, 1972 and built a beautiful life and family together over 49 years of marriage. Dan went into business for himself in 1979 as sole proprietor of Dan T Gratz Body Shop which he successfully operated for 36 years before retiring in 2015 to enjoy his retirement golfing, working on his classic cars and spending time with his grandchildren: Emerson (13), Vincent (9) and Parker (4). The kindness and generosity for his friends and community is rivaled only by the love for his family, his son’s hockey career and Penn State. Dan brought so much joy to those he encountered and was always the life of the party. Dan is survived by his wife, Cheryl, son, Brian (Rachel) Gratz; four brothers: Tim Gratz, Tom (Marydel) Gratz, Terry (Marilyn) Gratz and twin-Denny (Terri) Gratz. Dan will be greatly missed as a friend, husband, father and grandfather. Funeral Service will be 11:00 am, Friday, September 24, 2021 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave with calling one hour prior. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 23, 2021, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children's Hospital.
