Daniel Jerome Alter

Daniel Jerome Alter Sr (Coach), 79, of Adams Lake, died July 14, 2021at his home with his family.  Daniel was born to the late George and Margaret Alter on December 24, 1941 in Fort Wayne. He was a member of Saint Peter Catholic Church and was a 3rd Degree Knight. Dan coached 5th and 6th grade football at St. Charles for 20 years, was President of local 305 for 19 years at International Harvester, Chairman of 305-2911 for 16 years, was an Insurance Benefit Rep for 305 -2911 and 57 for 30+ years, worked at International Harvester for 43 years and worked 4 years as the Assistant Street Commissioner under Mayor Lebamoff. Daniel is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon M. Alter; son, Daniel J. (Linda) Alter Jr. of Kendallville, IN;  daughter Susan (Craig) Traxler; sons  Stephen Alter of North Fort Meyer Fl. and Thomas (Jennifer) Alter; daughter Marie (Jeff) Nedwick of East Lansing, MI; brother, George W. Alter (Patricia DeAromond); grandchildren Danielle (Shane) Thomas,  Evan (Alice) Traxler, Jason Traxler, Jenna Alter, Jessica Alter, Brianna Nedwick, Zachary Nedwick, Alyssa Nedwick, Bob Gamble, Kim Meyers; great grandchildren Isla, Ava and Aubrie Thomas. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Saint Peter Catholic Church, 518 E Dewald with calling one hour prior. Visitation will be held Friday, July 16, 2021, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm with a Rosary at 2pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital.
