Darryl P. Smith

Darryl P. Smith, 64, of Fort Wayne passed away February 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family in Fort Wayne. Darryl was born October 9, 1959, in Canton, Ohio, the son of the late James P. and Rosalie (Moore) Smith. He married Joyce A. (Moster) Smith, who survives, on June 20, 1981. Darryl received his Bachelor of Arts in Education/Technology/Leadership from Eastern Illinois University in 1990 and his Master of Science in Technology Education from Eastern Illinois University in May 1992.  Darryl served in the US Air Force, retiring in 1999 as a Master Sergeant.  He served on active duty from 1977 to 1990, completing his time as a technical instructor in aircraft maintenance.  From 1990 to 1999 he was an Organization Training Manger at the Indiana Air National Guard.  Following separation from active-duty military service, he went into human resources and completed 17 years at Dalton Corporation in Warsaw, Indiana.  He was also an associate faculty member at IPFW.  He was an active member of St Vincent De Paul Catholic Church and an inaugural member of their of the Knights of Columbus Chapter, serving in several positions including a past Grand Knight.  Surviving along with his wife, are two sons, Nathan (Holly) Smith of Fort Wayne, Curtis Smith of Seymour, Tennessee; daughter, Amanda (Caleb) Asbury of Maryville, Illinois; sisters, Karla (Cliff) Nevel of East Sparta, Ohio, Kimberly Smith of Daisy, Pennsylvania; three brothers, Terry (Regina) Smith of Canton, Ohio, Stacey (Jeannie) Smith of Canton, Ohio, Darwin (Shirley) Smith of Louisville, Ohio; 4 grandchildren Peter, Margaret and Anthony Smith and Theodore “Teddy “Asbury. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:30am, Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Saint Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 1502 Wallen Rd with visitation from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, with the Rosary recited at 9:30am. Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. Fort Wayne in charge of arrangements. Inurnment will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.  Memorial contributions may be made to St Vincent Knights of Columbus, Heartland Hospice or Active Day of Fort Wayne.
