David Lee Hoevel, 82, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2021, at home. Dave was born to the late Alfred and Sylvia Hoevel on September 21, 1938, in Fort Wayne.
He was happiest by the water with a fishing pole in hand, family by his side, and knowing the Fighting Irish would take the field in the afternoon. A lover of the open road, he made his rounds across the country, visiting family and friends every leg of the trip - from midwestern towns to sandy Florida beaches and west to Arizona. With a caring, helpful, and friendly heart, Dave made his house and the Fort Wayne Duplicate Bridge Club a home where everyone was always glad they came. With a passion for card playing, his competitive spirit came alive when the Silver Lifemaster sat down at the bridge table and went to work.
