Donald C. Mackay

Donald C. Mackay died peacefully on January 31, 2021 at Golden Years Health Center. Don was born in New York, New York on February 19, 1932.  He was loved and is missed by his daughter Lynn, son-in-law Lee, and granddaughter Amanda Nayes of Fort Wayne and by his son Craig and daughter-in-law Luisa Mackay from Miami Lakes, FL. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Nikki, to whom he was married to for six years, and by his first wife, Patricia, who he married in 1955 and who died in 2006. He is also survived by his sister, Lucille Weidig, of Pennsylvania. Don moved to Fort Wayne in June 2020 from Delray Beach, FL and resided at Golden Years Homestead. Don’s family is eternally grateful to the staff at Golden Years assisted living, rehab, and healthcare who took such good care of him in his time of need. His family also deeply appreciates the care and support he received from Visiting Nurse Hospice Care. Don worked for General Motors Overseas Operations and in Detroit, Michigan with a career spanning 30 years. His assignments with General Motors took him to Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, and Greece. Shortly after retirement in 1992, Don and his wife Patricia moved from Bloomfield Hills, MI to Boca Raton, FL where he lived until 2014. Don was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed tennis and crossword puzzles. He made many friends throughout his life and was kind to all he met. His Catholic faith was especially important to him and was a great source of comfort to him. Don will be dearly missed.
