Earl G. Syfert, 88, of Fort Wayne died January 18, 2022 in Fort Wayne. He was born August 18, 1933, the son of the late James E. and Mona Mae Syfert, in West Frankfort, IL. The family moved to Chicago when he was a child. He graduated Lane Tech High School. In 1951 he joined the E.I. DuPont Company as a lab technician. In 1958 he earned his Chemistry degree from the University of Chicago. He had several company transfers until he was assigned to Fort Wayne "The Magnet Wire capital of the US" in 1971. He loved the city, and stayed on after his retirement, representing Bresser's Directory, Zemco and Tippman Industries locally. He was a lifelong golfer and was director of the Railroader's Golf League for many years. He was a Life Member of the Elks Lodge # 155. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Sylvia and their three sons, Alan (Cathy) Syfert of Bloomington, IN, Steven (Darci) Syfert of Palm Springs, CA, Jon (Janet) Syfert, Somerset, MI; three grandchildren, Sean, Jessica and Christy; one great-grandson, Mason; brother Ronald of Zelienople, PA. He was preceded in death by brother James E. Jr., and sister Mona Lee Bishop. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future. Arrangements by Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne.
