Elizabeth (Betsy) Meyer, passed into eternal life on February 8, 2024. Betsy was the daughter of Carl and Cecilia Ankenbruck. She was born in Fort Wayne on September 21, 1935, and attended St. Mary’s Catholic grade school, where she was the recipient of the Bishop Noll Scholarship. Betsy graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1953. She married Richard Meyer on November 20, 1954, and raised three daughters.
After graduating from High School, Betsy worked at Lincoln National Life Insurance Company. Following the birth of her first child, she went to work for Dr. Maurice Rothberg. She finished her working career with the City of Fort Wayne as the Barrett Law Accountant in 1985.
In retirement Betsy cared for her mother until she passed at the age of 98. She was an active member of Queen of Angels Parish, including singing in the choir for many years. She enjoyed traveling, music, and spending time with her family.
Betsy is survived by her daughters, Beth (Terry) Neu, Rita Marie Meyer, and Carolyn (Rick) Bokern; grandchildren, Amanda (John) Etter, Andy Neu, Jerry Bokern, Katy Bokern, and Julia Bokern; great-granddaughters, Haley, Adrianna, and Jillian Etter, Bailey and Gracelynn Bokern; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Meyer in 1992; her parents; brothers, Thomas and Charles Ankenbruck; and sisters, Mary Trey, Rita Miller, and Catherine Foley.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 1500 W. State Blvd., Fort Wayne, IN 46808. There will be no visitation per Betsy’s request, but a luncheon will immediately follow the service at the church where everyone will be able to share memories of her.
