Gary Hort Obituary

Gary S. Hort, 73, of Fort Wayne, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023 while surrounded by family. He was born on February 10, 1950 in Eau Claire, WI to the late Carl and Irma (Whitwam) Hort. Gary, a U.S. Army Special Forces veteran, began working at BF Goodrich in Eau Claire, WI (later transferring to Woodburn, IN) following his military service and remained there until his retirement in 2007. Gary enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his family, and sports, especially the Packers. He is survived by his children, Jamie (Jacob) Cross and Ashley (Jason) Mullins; grandchildren, Beckham Cross and Carson Mullins; and siblings, Kaye Jasper, Jane Braun, Michael Hort, and Mary Ellen Hort. Also preceding him in death was a grandson, Carter Mullins. There will be no formal services at this time. A Celebration of Life is planned for July 2, 2023 in Eau Claire, WI. Memorials may be directed to Disabled American Veterans Chapter 40 or Shepherd’s House. Arrangements have been entrusted to Divine Mercy Funeral Home.
