Gary Nichter

Gary A. Nichter, 57, of Cromwell died April 11, 2022. Gary was born May 22, 1964 in Fort Wayne, IN to the late Patricia Bradfield. He was a graduate of South Side High School. He married  Layne McCabe on October 9, 2010 at Niagara Falls. He worked for several trucking companies over the years and enjoyed his job to the fullest, taking great pride in serving his customers well. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. where he proudly served his country for many years. He was known for his caring nature and did not know a stranger. He loved cooking meals from scratch, his Labradoodle and two Goldendoodle puppies, making family memories, riding his motorcycle in his spare time, and boating on Lake Wawasee.  He is survived by his wife, Layne, along with her 2 children and grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra Close of Huntertown and Rose Beal of Huntington; a brother, David Nichter of Fort Wayne; a granddaughter, Katherine Klerner of Angola.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Bradfield; and a son, Joshua Klerner. Memorial Service will be 6 pm, Monday April 25, 2022 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave with calling two hours prior. There will also be Military Honors at 4pm. Memorial contributions can be made to Dekalb County Animal Shelter in Gary's name.
