Obituary

Gene A. Kapp, 82, of Nappanee, formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Heritage House Assisted Living.

He was born in Fort Wayne on April 11, 1941 to the late Arthur D and Ruth B (Waldrop) Kapp Sr.

Mr. Kapp retired as a Sheet Metal Fabricator for GE.  

Gene enjoyed cars, especially Corvettes and Cadillacs; auto racing; the Detroit Tigers; anything John Wayne; and Southern Gospel Music.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Wendy (Charles) Lawrence, Tabatha Wichman-Kapp, Teria (Mike) Prestarri, Toni (Reese) Dorsey, and Ben (Rachel Ling) Kapp; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were a son, Mark Kapp; granddaughter, Katlyne Kapp; and siblings, Arthur D. Kapp Jr. and Marilyn Huey.

A Celebration of Gene’s Life will take place on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 6 p.m. at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the start of the service.

Memorials may be directed to Calvary Christian Fellowship.
