Gloria Joan (Van Lear) Girardot

Gloria Joan Girardot, 97, of Fort Wayne passed away Labor Day, September 5, 2022, at St. Anne Home. Gloria was born on March 14,1925 in Garrett, IN to the late Dewey Van Lear and Creede (B. T.) Marshall. She graduated from Central High School and was an office clerk at Rogers Market for 30 years. She also served during World War II at Baer Field from 1942-1946 as a Civil Servant. Gloria married the love of her life Elmer on Labor Day of 1946 (Sept. 2). Together they raised 7 children and proudly welcomed 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren into the world. She was a core member of Home Bound Eucharistic Ministry at St. Vincent de Paul, Fort Wayne National Alliance on Mental Illness, and an associate member of Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority. She enjoyed golfing and bowling, and routinely cheered on the Chicago Cubs. She was a seasoned thrift store expert. Other joys included gardening and spending time with family. Gloria is survived by children, Jim (Nancy) Girardot, Tricia Fridley, Mary Jo Girardot, Rosalie Senter, and Theresa Girardot. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Girardot; sons, Richard (Nancy) Girardot, and Joseph Girardot; granddaughter, Teah Senter; sister, Media Hanson; and son-in-law, Mike Fridley. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, September 8, 2022, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Road, with calling from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm. Entombment will be in Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Fort Wayne Rescue Mission, League for the Blind and Disabled, St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, or National Alliance on Mental Illness.
