Gwen Claire Jenne

Gwen Claire Jenne, 92, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away September 1st, 2021 at her home. Born April 6, 1929 in Fort Wayne, IN, was the daughter of the late Orval and Hilda (Delagrange) Waite. On September 22, 1951, she married her high school sweetheart, Don.

Traveling was a great joy for Don and Gwen and memories were made as a family at Disney and many historical sites through the years. They spent many long weekends camping in their full size van or at the Inns at the IN state parks. Their favorite adventures were Europe, Alaska, Hawaii and the National Parks of the Western US.

Gwen was always an avid reader, especially mystery books. She could be known to read 2-3 books a day.

Her greatest love in life were her two granddaughters, Amelia and Gianna. She truly hung the moon on both of them and was so proud of the lovely young ladies they have become.

Her husband Don preceded her in death. Surviving are her very proud daughter Jessica (Richard) Jenne-Porfilio, and her wonderful granddaughters, Amelia (Valentino) Porfilio-Grijalva, and Gianna Porfilio, and a sister Karen Waite.

Rosary and Interment will be a private ceremony at the Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN.  A Catholic Funeral Mass will be at the Queen of All Saints Chapel at Bishop Dwenger High School, 1300 E. Washington Center Road, Fort Wayne, IN on Wednesday, September 29th at 5:30pm. Visitation will proceed Mass from 4-5:30pm. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo Species Survival Plan for African Penguins (please include Gwen Jenne on memo line) or a check to Richard Porfilio for a memorial tree to be planted in Gwen’s honor.
