Helen Diane Youngpeter

Helen Diane Youngpeter, 85, of Fort Wayne passed away April 13, 2022. Diane was born July 1, 1936 in Delphos, OH, a daughter of the late Richard and Helen Griffis. 

She was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church. Diane received an Associates Degree from IU, DGTS in 1979, and worked in the accounting field until retiring in 1998. Diane's claim to fame is that she shook hands with Estes Kefauver. 

Diane is survived by her husband, Leon Yongpeter; sons, Paul (Kim) Youngpeter and David  Youngpeter; daughters, Julia (Steve) Myers, Jill (Matthew) Brown, Mary Youngpeter, Janet (Andreas) Schwarz, Karen (Bradley) Ridenour; sister, Terri (Bruce) Massa; brother, Craig (Bonnie) Griffis; 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nancy Griffis; seven cousins and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Griffis and David Griffis, and sister, Lynn Davis. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 1101 Lafayette St., Ft. Wayne, IN, with calling one hour prior.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Ft. Wayne, IN. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Miss Virginia's Food Pantry.
