Jack Davis, 88, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Lutheran Life Village at Inverness. He was retired from Essex Wire after 40 years of service. He was a lifelong member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Throughout the years, Jack served on many church boards. He also enjoyed playing on their softball team. He could also be found in the church kitchen after the Mother/Daughter Banquets doing the dishes. Jack served his country in the United States Army where he was a sharpshooter and recipient of the Good Conduct Medal.
He was a devoted and loving husband, wonderful son, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Jack loved sports. The Chicago Cubs were his team, and he was a die-hard fan. He was so happy when they won the World Series in 2016. He also rooted for the Chicago Bears and loved IU basketball! Jack truly loved classic cars as well. He enjoyed going to the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Car Show and Auction and taking photos of all the beautiful cars on display.
He is survived by a daughter, Jamie (Tim) Fagan; daughter in law, Lisa Davis all of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Sarah (Forrest) Bishop and Jessica Davis; great-grandchildren, Coleman, Elon, Eliza, and Leena Bishop.
Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Janet Davis; son, Jeff Davis; parents, Charles and Marie Davis; and sister, Kathy Davis.
Funeral service is at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 729 W. Washington Blvd., Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Visitation also from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Burial in St. John Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
