JAMES L. FANGER, 94, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Fort Wayne on March 26th, 1927, James retired in 1992 after 42 years with the Cooper CPA Group where he was a general partner. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member and usher at St. Peter Catholic Church. Memberships included American Legion Post 47, Decatur Elks Lodge 993, Honorary member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Indiana CPA Society. He enjoyed sports and was especially active in playing racquetball and golf. James took great pride in his family and enjoyed their coming home for each holiday celebration at 4 p.m. Surviving are his daughters, Karen (Thomas) Durnell, Cheryl (John) Mitchell, both of Fort Wayne, and Jennifer (Llyn) Harrington of Greenwood, Ind.; sons, James R. Fanger, Scott T. (Pim) Fanger, and Jeffrey D. (Mandy) Fanger, all of Fort Wayne; 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Phyllis of 62 years; son, Daniel Fanger; and his parents, Ralph and Alice Fanger; and brother Richard D. Fanger. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at St. Peter Catholic Church, with calling one hour prior to service at the church, with Father Patrick Hake officiating. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Ind. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Peter Catholic Church or St. Peter Catholic Church.
