Bart Lyon (James Barton) passed away in his home in Fort Wayne, IN in the early morning hours of December 8th at the age of 61, after battling cancer. In his final days of life, he was surrounded in love by his family and friends.
Bart was born in February of 1959 to Patsy Oates and Jack Lyon. He grew up a gifted athlete and student and always loved being part of a team.
The greatest pride of his life were Bart’s five children, who he spent his life teaching and learning from. His fondest memories were those of coaching their sports teams and watching them grow into adulthood. Bart absolutely loved his occasional camping trips with his kids, always had a good book in his hand and was interested in anything on the history channel. In his later years, Bart was dedicated to personal growth and found peace and serenity through the community and framework of Al Anon. He was a devout Catholic, an active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church parish, where he was a contributing member of the Christ Renews His Parish community.
Bart is survived by his wife Becky, who after 31 years of marriage still “made his heart sing,”; mother and step-father, Patsy and Bill Oates; brother, Joseph Lyon; sister, Jenny Koslakiewicz; children, Amanda (Elizabeth) Fiacable, Joshua (Jessica) Lyon, Jacob (Tyler) Lyon, Sister Mary Vianney 'Abigail' Lyon, Samuel (Rose) Lyon and beautiful grandchildren, Lena, Alex, and Rowan, with a grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother Jack and Patti Lyon.
Bart lived a life of love and service. His friends and family will remember him as a compassionate, faithful, committed and loving man.
