Jeanne A. Woods

Jeanne A. Woods, 77, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital.  Born on August 16, 1946, she was the daughter of the late J. Robert and Helen (Alter) Baker.  Jeanne was a graduate of Elmhurst High School in Fort Wayne and worked for 31 years in Human Resources for Waste Management until she retired in 2011.  On April 24, 1965, she married the love of her life, Steve Woods.  Together, they spent the next 58 years building a life in Fort Wayne and watching their family grow.  Jeanne was defined by her faith and her love of family.  She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.  She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her sisters.  Shopping and playing games with her family were two of her favorite pastimes.  Jeanne was always the social butterfly, as she didn’t know a stranger.  She was a great listener and just put people at ease.  She will be dearly missed by family and friends alike.  Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Steve Woods; her sons, Jeffrey (Holly), Gregory (Lisa), Brian (Shannon), and Troy (Susan) Woods; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Carol Shepherd, Patricia Meyers, Joanie Forney, and Beth (Tim) Kendrick.  Jeanne was preceded in death by her grandsons, Jeffrey Woods Jr. and Bradon Woods; great-grandson, Stephen R. Lavelle; and her parents.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46815 with visitation one hour prior.  Visitation will also be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 with a rosary beginning at 1:30 p.m. Jeanne will be laid to rest at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.  Memorials may be written to Riley Children’s Hospital.  Condolences for the family can be left www.divinemercyfuneralhome.org.
