James H. Sorg, 81, of Fort Wayne, died Saturday February 10, 2024, at Parkview Randallia Hospital. Jim was born in Fort Wayne on September 26, 1942, the son of (the late) Raymond P. and Wilma (Smith) Sorg. He graduated from Elmhurst High School with the Class of ’60 and went on to serve his country proudly in the US Air Force, stationed in Germany during the early years of the Vietnam Conflict. On February 23, 1963, Jim married Pamela (Welsh) Sorg, who survives him along with their sons, Scott (Tina) Sorg and Dennis Sorg; grandchildren, Zachary (Mackenna) Sorg and Alli (Bailey) McDaniel, and great-granddaughter, Selah Sorg, all of Fort Wayne.
In addition to his parents, Jim was also preceded in death by sons, Daniel Sorg and Christopher Sorg, and his sister, Sr. Antonette Sorg, O.S.F.
Jim retired in 2002 as a senior associate engineer at Raytheon, after 35 years with the company. He went on to work at the Allen Co. Public Library until his second retirement in 2009. Jim was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the American Legion, Post 47. He enjoyed being outdoors and working on the lawn & garden, as well as tending to woodworking and handyman projects, but his greatest joy in life was his family, cherishing the time he spent with them. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed.
