Joanna Hill Jacobs, 76, of Wolcottville, IN, passed away March 2, 2021, at her home on Big Long Lake, surrounded by her loving family. Joanna was born October 2, 1944 in Fort Wayne and was the daughter of the late Charles and Alice Hill. She was a graduate of Bishop Luers High School, class of 1962, attended Mount St. Joseph University, St. Francis University and the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. She began her working career as a third-grade teacher at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School. Following several years of raising her children and completing her business education, Joanna worked as marketing coordinator for ITT Electro Optical Products Division and then Thermodyne Foodservice Products. She also served as an Academic Dean and Interim Director at Michiana College. Joanna supported several charities, including the Christ Child Society and the Junior Catholic Women's Guild. Joanna was devout in her faith and prayed the Memorare and Rosary daily. She was a parishioner at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and St. Mary of the Angels Church. She was an avid gardener who could identify with certainty many plants and flowers. Joanna enjoyed celebrating lake activities and making memories with family and friends on Big Long Lake where her family had a cottage since 1951. Joanna and Barry designed and built a beautiful home on the lake where they have lived for the last ten years. The lake home provided many opportunities for Joanna to maintain beautiful gardens and explore her other many interests including cooking, decorating, reading and playing cards with friends. You could often find Joanna on the sidelines in support of her children and grandchildren at various sporting events or school and community functions. Her presence will be deeply missed, and her memory will be treasured by her family and friends. Joanna is survived by her husband of 30 years, Barry Jacobs; children, Jim (Patty) Taylor of Phoenix, Adam (Tricia) Taylor of Crozet, Virginia, and Danielle (Sam) Talarico of Fort Wayne; stepsons, Bradley (Lucy) Jacobs and Carl (Cherie) Jacobs both of Fort Wayne; brother, Jeff Hill of Fort Wayne; and grandchildren: Dylan, Mackenzie, Brett and Jack Taylor; Charlie, Addison and Enzo Taylor; George, Alice, and Sophia Talarico; Brady and Carly Jacobs and Stella and Charlotte Jacobs.
