John R. Dominguez, AKA Uncle Juan, 91, of Fort Wayne, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020 due to Covid-19. John was born on April 19, 1929 in Dallas TX to the late Rufus and Consuela Dominguez. John retired from General Electric after 30+ years. John enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved to throw cookouts and parties at his home and would welcome everybody. John also enjoyed traveling to casinos with whoever was ready to gamble. John was also known for his love of sharp clothes and Stacy Adam shoes. John was known around town as the one to go to for tamales. He always walked in with grocery bags full of fresh, hot tamales. You always heard somebody yell out “Uncle Juan is here”. That is what most people knew him as. Surviving are his wife, Tomasa Dominguez; sons John M. Dominguez of Fort Worth, TX and James M. Dominguez of Fort Wayne; daughters, Suzie (Jose Guzman) M. Dominguez and Tonia L. Cook, both of Fort Wayne; brothers Rufus Dominguez of Pensacola, FL, twins Lupe and Alphonso Dominguez, Joe Dominguez of Fort Wayne, Ricardo Dominguez of Chicago, IL; sisters Juanita (Raymond) Quinonez and Isabelle (Ray) Brock both of Fort Wayne; and many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his wife, Ophelia Dominguez; his daughter, Donna M. White and his son, Paul M. Dominguez. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2213 Brooklyn Ave, with calling one-hour prior. Visitation will be held Monday, October 26, 2020, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, with a time to share memories at 3:30 pm, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave, Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. Face coverings will be required at the funeral home, church and the cemetery.
