John Joseph Kuhn, 97, of New Haven passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. John was born August 4, 1924, in Payne, OH the son Edward and Victoria Kuhn.
He graduated from Payne High School and was an Army Veteran. His Catholic faith sustained him throughout his life, along with a strong devotion to Our Blessed Mother and the Holy Rosary. John was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, he was married to Phyllis Ann Frecker June 9, 1951, and he sadly missed her as she passed away October 17, 2009.
John enjoyed many hours tinkering and inventing in his shop. He also loved vacationing in the mountains, fishing, reading, and gardening. He spent many hours playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His hobbies included restoring statues, singing opera in the garage, grafting apple trees, and building model airplanes.
John is survived by children; Cindy (Greg) Rose, Kathleen (Dan) Fogarty, Edward (Rhonda) Kuhn, Carol (Victor) Fox, Annette (Randy) Guise, Kelly (Doug) Shininger; 40 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren; siblings, Christina Schaefer, Nila Radenbaugh and Clela Sample; as well as many nieces and nephews.
John spent many happy hours with his special friends, Dennis Przybyla, Therese Joy Burkett and Carolyn Stroud.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Ann; sister, Mary Obringer; and brothers, Hobart and Anthony Kuhn.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 16, 2022, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne with a rosary at 3:30 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, with calling one hour prior at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 4643 Gaywood Dr., Fort Wayne, IN 46806.
Burial will be in Saint John Catholic Cemetery, New Haven, IN.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Masses in his name.
