John Francis Martin, 71, of Fort Wayne died September 20, 2021. John was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, earned an undergraduate degree from Notre Dame and masters degree later. He was a teacher at Fort Wayne Community Schools, member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church, Ft. Wayne Education Association. He volunteered with Big Brothers and Big Sisters, St. Mary's Soup Kitchen, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Youth Group/ Missionary, Ave Maria House and Special Olympics.

John is survived by his brother, Donald C. Martin and cousins Ann (Merritt) Fairfield, Helen Hershberger, Jane (Mike) Greener, Kathryn Murfield, Sharon Murfield and Thomas Murfield; a host of nieces, nephews and family friend Geraldine Smith.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Francis A. and Joan Mary Martin; uncle Clarence (Julia) Mensing, aunt Sr. Philomene Mensing, aunt Edith Rose Mensing and cousin James Murfield.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10am Friday Oct. 1, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1101 Lafayette St., with calling one hour prior. Visitation will also be held 4-7 pm, with a Rosary Service at 6:30 pm, Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Private burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
