John M. Steenport

John M. Steenport, 90, of Fort Wayne, IN went to be with his Heavenly Father on August 18, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. John was born November 25, 1932, in Chilton, WI. He was a graduate of Ripon College in Ripon, WI, and Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Prior to attending college he served in the US Navy. John retired from AEP after 35 years of service. 

John was a member of Our Lady of Good Hope Parish, Knights of Columbus #12417. He also volunteered with St. Vincent dePaul Society and Hospitality Ministry at Our Lady of Good Hope. He was a past member of the Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, driver for Workers for the Blind, and an advisor for Junior Achievement. 

John enjoyed boating and lived many years at Lake Wawasee. He loved spending time with family and friends. His faith was very important to him as was serving his church.

John is survived by his children, Michele (Jon) Kennedy, Tom (Cathy) Steenport, Suanne Robinson, Mark (Brenda) Steenport and David (Kathy) Steenport. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Barbara, his infant son Michael and his son-in-law James Robinson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Our Lady of Good Hope, 7215 St Joe Rd, with calling one hour prior. Visitation will be held 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Friday, August 25, 2023 with a Rosary Service at 3:30 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Private inurnment will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN. 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent dePaul Society, St Jude Children's Research Hospital or Tunnel to Towers.
